Supporting the O'Dell Family

North Chesterfield, VA

Story

In November, the O'Dell Family received some very difficult news: Evan had a malignant brain tumor and would need to be operated on right away. Since then, he has undergone two major brain surgeries, one here in Richmond, and the other at Duke University Hospital. This week, he is receiving in-patient rehab at Sheltering Arms. Rebekah has shared a few pictures over the past weeks that speak to Evan's incredible strength, courage, and perspective: there's one of him walking out of the hospital, just two days after his first surgery, and another one of him with a big smile on his face, enjoying their annual night-after-Christmas cheese board from his Sheltering Arms room because in Rebekah's words, "Traditions no matter what!" Evan and Rebekah want to express that they are humbled and grateful for the way they have been loved over the past weeks. As the O'Dells learn more about Evan's recovery plan, their needs may change. For now, we'll post opportunities to support them for the first two weeks in January. Additional dates to come as we learn more. Fresh and frozen meals, or gift cards would be most helpful.

Special Notes

Favorite restaurants include Mellow Mushroom, Cava, Chicken Fiesta, Pepe’s Midlothian, Blaze Pizza, Southbound, and Wegman's for groceries. Also, no seafood or desserts, please! There is a cooler at the top of the driveway for delivering meals.
