Please help support Nicholle Patrick in the fight against cancer!

Red Bluff, CA

Story

What do we say to the God of Death? Not today!!! Nicholle Patrick was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer 7 months ago. It was the most terrifying news I've ever received. She called me the day I started school. Somehow I knew it was bad news. But like the amazing person she is she checked in with me first, kept it light, then broke the news. I balled like a baby. But these past 7 months I have been in awe at her bravery, her strength, how she handled losing her hair, endured chemo, all why watching three kids. She handled it so well that I would sometimes forget she had cancer. But now that the chemo is over it is all becoming even more real with her upcoming surgery set for November 4th. The chemo didn't do what the doctors had hoped, the tumors didn't shrink like they wanted and she will need a mastectomy and surgery to remove cancerous lymph nodes in her arm. It doesn't seem real, it's like we're watching someone else's life, a show on TV. But it is ALL VERY REAL. I'm trying to remain positive, she is a fighter, a warrior, after all. She began to fight to live the minute she was born, it's what she knows, she's the master at it. But not even Nikki, the strongest woman I know, can fight this one alone. She needs us and we need her. I'm creating this space so that we can all help her and her family in any way we're able in order to get through this with as much ease as we can offer. I love this woman, my amazing beautiful sister, so many of us do, let's show her just how much.   UPDATE!!! Nikki had her surgery and it went really well. She is back home with her family and on the mend!  She would love to hear from you!

Special Notes

Great ways in which you can help support Nicholle are preparing meals, grocery shopping, childcare, rides to the doctor, housecleaning, money towards their outrageous medical bills, hugs, anything you can think of that they might need would be most appreciated. Would love any and all suggestions big or small! Both Nikki and Tom are on the Keto diet, a healthy diet of mostly meat and vegetables. When considering preparing meals for them or getting them groceries, let's help them stick to this healthy way of eating so they can be well nourished and Nikki can thrive throughout this journey! Thank you!!! Here's a list of things they can eat: Good fats: cheese, eggs, avocado, coconut, nut butter. Meat: poultry, beef, pork, fish & seafood And most non starchy vegetables:  Broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, leafy greens (spinach, salad greens etc.) pepper, mushrooms, cucumber etc. No sugar, grains, pasta, bread, starchy vegetables, flours or thickeners, or foods containing any of these. ***There are gift cards for groceries, housecleaning, etc that they really could use during this time! You need to sign in to send them something or to sign up to help! All help and donations greatly appreciated!!!
