Story
Six years ago Ron dealt with a very large sarcoma (a rare cancer) that required major surgery. By the grace of God, Ron was able to recover and enjoy a move to Virginia Beach to be near family. Unfortunately earlier this year Ron was experiencing hip pain, and after examination was diagnosed with another large sarcoma in the muscle tissue around his hip. Once the diagnosis was confirmed, Ron completed 6 weeks of radiation treatment and was prepared for a very large surgery to remove the tumor in his hip. We were hoping for a similar experience to Ron's last bout with this horrible disease. However, sarcomas are one of the rarest forms of cancer. They tend to be very aggressive, they do not respond well to traditional treatments, and can metastasize anywhere in the body. During the pre-op testing for surgery the doctors noticed that tumors were forming in Ron's lung and bone and the tumor in his hip has grown to the point where surgery is no longer an option. Without surgery there are limited options for additional treatment, chemotherapy is scheduled, and we are praying it is effective in limiting the future growth of more tumors. We continue to pray and know that God is in control. We ask that you join us in prayer. As Ron continues to battle this cancer we know that treatments will become more difficult and that he and Gloria will need more help. This help can be anything from meals to transportation, cards of encouragement and assistance around the house. We know that everyone who loves Ron and Gloria can't wait to jump in and help any way they can so we hope this page can be a way to organize their needs. We will continue to pose updates here as we have more information. Thank you so much for all of your help and prayers, Ashley and Evan Nardone
