Annika Sherwood is a 33-year-old mother of two (ages 8 and 6) and a teacher of 9 years. One day a few months ago, she felt something wasn't right after conducting a breast self-exam. After some serious self-advocating after being told she couldn't be seen until after the new year, she proceeded to be seen by the doctor only to discover that she had breast cancer. We know Annika is in for a battle, but what the cancer doesn't know is that when Annika is determined to do something, she does it and she's determined to beat this. She's currently still undergoing further testing and scans to determine the extent of the cancer. It is Metastatic breast cancer. It is in her lymph nodes. As one of her friends, I know that as determined as she is, I know she can use as much support as possible to reserve that determination where she needs it most so that she can get through the chemo, the mastectomy, and the radiation as strong as possible!
