Esther and Marvin Daughenbaugh have been a bonus set of grandparents throughout my life. They had two sons, Jeff and Dave. Jeff lived in Wisconsin and Dave lived most of his adult life in Iowa. Dave eventually moved back to freeport and moved in with his parents to help take better care of them. Marvin and Esther shared 68 years of marriage. 18 months ago, Marvin passed away. This was extremely hard on Esther. Thank God she had her sons, especially Dave there with her to help her through. Towards the end of last year, Jeff passed away suddenly. Again, Dave was there for her and helped the best he could to help her get through the grief and loss of her husband and son. Last week, Dave went to the store and came home and wasn't feeling well. Before Esther knew it, Dave too, suddenly passed away. Those 3 men were everything she had in her world. Now it's just her, and hopefully us that can help pull her through this devasting time. I'm not sure what is next for Esther but I was hoping in these next few weeks while she tries to navigate through all these tragic changes, we could help her out by bringing her a meal if and when you have an extra helping.
