I’m not really sure the best way to begin this, but my name is Jen Merritt. I work full time in the medical field. I am married to David and we have two boys, Walker, 11 and Fisher, 9. Back in 2020 Dave was diagnosed with bladder cancer. The doctors said it was quite rare for a 42 year old non-smoker to be diagnosed with this, and that he is their youngest patient. Over the past 4 years Dave has completed multiple surgeries, BCG treatments, as well as tri-monthly scopes. Dave owns a modest business as a dental technician making orthodontic appliances. In between these times he remains quite positive, struggling occasionally with mental health. We live in a farm town in Northwest Connecticut, and Dave loves spending time with all the friends he’s made here. As a family we often find our weekends busy as spectators or coaches for our kids soccer/basketball/lacrosse games. Dave is also a very talented musician, specifically on the guitar and has played in multiple bands over the years. When we first me we connected because he plays guitar and I sing, so we collaborated for fun. He absolutely loves music and plays it too loud in the house haha. In an effort to be completely transparent, it is true that I am looking for monetary relief. Recently the hospital bills have started to build up. The stress of staying on top of our monthly finances along with medical bills has become challenging. I want Dave to continue to get the care he needs while allowing our boys to continue to thrive in a town that we love.
