Support for Mom: Sadly, as many of you know, our mom was diagnosed in March with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. After performing a self-examination in January, she was surprised to find three lumps in her right breast (a mammogram performed back in September 2020 had shown negative results). Appointments with several doctors in February and March confirmed what we feared...breast cancer. It wasn't until the end of March that we learned how aggressive the cancer had spread and was affecting her entire body and brain. Fortunately, we were able to shift her care to the great doctors and nurses at City of Hope in Duarte, CA. Since the switch, her doctor (one of the best in the field) has hit the ground running with chemotherapy treatments every other week as well as radiation therapy for her brain. The support has been amazing but it has all been challenging and taken a major physical toll on her body. She is exhausted mentally and physically. While this is tough, we believe our mom is tougher. She keeps going... Our mom is a fighter. She is our Wonder Woman. She is our champ. We are blessed to have such an amazing person in our lives who has demonstrated so much strength and selflessness all our lives. We have taken on the rally cry of "¡échale ganas!" as we encourage her and each other to give it all we got as we take on this battle together.
