Love and support for Jamie.

Marshalltown, IA

Story

As many of you may or may not know, my sister Jamie Welsh (Lewis) has been diagnosed with breast cancer after receiving news of her BRCA 1 positive genetic testing. On a positive note, she is in a very early stage and with surgery should be able to beat the cancer before it spreads. Jamie’s double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery is scheduled for May 18th and she has a long road ahead with weekly visits for a month, another minor surgery 4 months later and her final hysterectomy surgery later on. She is in great care and will be having surgery at Mary Greeley in Ames, near her home in Marshalltown. During the 6-8 weeks of healing from such a surgery it will require her to rest with little to no physical activity. I am setting up a food train in case anyone would like to provide meals during her recovery. If you’re not familar, meal trains are calendars that coordinate meals for our loved ones. Donations and well wishes may also be sent directly to Jamie Welsh (address listed below). Your help is greatly appreciated and we thank you for your support and love for Jamie and our family. Please feel free to share with others.
