Jon + Linda Morgan Helene Recovery Support

Augusta, GA

Story

On Friday, September 27th Hurricane Helene devastated Augusta, GA during it's path through the southeast. My parents, Jon and Linda, were sitting in their living room during the storm. When she heard a noise outside, my mom left to shelter in the bathroom with their dog. A neighbor's tree came down and destroyed the living room of their home. My dad was covered in debris from the ceiling collapsing on him, and my mom narrowly missed a likely fatal injury from the tree landing on the chair she had just been sitting in. They are both mentally recovering from the experience. They are also left unable to inhabit their home, and with no power due to the service to their home being damaged by the tree. During the storm aftermath and cleanup efforts, they also hired a tree removal service to remove the tree from their roof. The company caused significantly more damage to the home which they are still waiting to hear from insurance on the claim value. The structure has been damaged, and others have speculated it may be a total rebuild / loss on the house due to the structural damage. They are currently residing in their camper on their property and have use of a generator, while also trying to recover from the shock and work through insurance claims to be able to rebuild their home.

Special Notes
