Baby Petersen Meal Train

Cincinnati, OH

Story

Hello dear community, We are delighted to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter! Lumina Ray Petersen. Born in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 20, at 12:42 AM, under the brilliant light of the Hunter's Full Moon. Mattie labored stoically and courageously for several hours, until giving birth in water in our quiet bedroom at home. It was a mighty privilege for me to witness as she demonstrated her wild and awesome feminine power. As we begin this wild journey of parenthood, it’s hard to imagine all the love, challenges, and joy this experience will entail. All we know is that we will need support. It feels vitally important, now more than ever, to be connected with you in community. That is why we are reaching out, to humbly ask for your practical love and care through this vulnerable time. Please consider signing up to prepare and drop off a meal for our family. Thank you for nourishing us; we are so grateful for you! FOOD PREFERENCES: • ALL ORGANIC: In our home, we are deeply committed to eating a diet of 100% non-GMO, Organic foods. This includes cooking oils, produce, animal products, packaged foods, etc. Please note, labels such as “grass-fed,” “natural,” or “nitrate-free” do not indicate a product as organic. In stores, we trust the “Non-GMO Project Verified” and “USDA Organic” labels. Look for them on the packaging! If this preference is too challenging to accommodate, we invite you to support us in another way, (a grocery run, a diaper donation, or your prayers!) 😊 • THINGS WE LOVE TO EAT: For Mattie’s postpartum, we would love simple, warm, filling, and nourishing meals like brothy soups/stews, casseroles, cooked root vegetables, and healthy grains like rice, quinoa, barley, oat muffins, banana bread, etc. We love cooking with rich, healthy fats like avocado oil, nut butters, and ghee. To help support mama's healthy milk production, consider including foods rich in glucose -- a few examples are: sweet potatoes/potatoes, oats, bananas, plantains, melons, squash, and greens (to name a few examples.) FOOD WE AVOID: • White confectionary sugars; we opt for natural sweeteners like organic maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, etc. • White flour; we opt for organic almond, oat, or cassava flour • Large Beans (like kidney, black, and chick peas); for postpartum, we are opting for smaller beans like lentils and mung beans for digestive ease • Brown rice; through postpartum, we’ll primarily be eating basmati rice, for digestive ease DROP-OFF & VISITATION: For the first week or two, we are planning on limiting visitations to family only. For your food drop-off, please plan to deliver your food between 5 and 6 PM. Text Adam to let us know you’re on your way and when you’ve dropped your dish on our front porch. ** Mattie's parents will be visiting for some time during this first month (Oct 23rd - 31st.) Please consider adjusting your portion sizes to include them (4 people total). ** Please understand that we love you and are so grateful for your care – and – that we may not be available to host and socialize with you at this time. Your serving dish, (if not disposable) will be available for pick up within 24 hours. We’ll clean it and keep it for you until you text Adam to coordinate a time to pick it up. Adam's cell: (513) 444-9461 We believe sharing food is one of the most effective ways to build community. Please SHARE THIS LINK with anyone you think may love to participate! ❤
