Addi Strong

Richmond, KY

Story

This is a short introduction to Addi’s story and family, shared to you by Rich City Raptors baseball team manager/organizer and friend of the e Luedeke family, Lathey Mitchell. Addington Luedeke is one of our littlest "Raptors" of RCR. Born on 11/8/23 at only 26 weeks and weighing only 1lb 3oz, Addi became the tiny baby sister to our #44, Brandon, and the daughter of Hannah and Coach Hunter. At 4 months old, Addi was diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive form of soft tissue cancer. In late June, the Luedeke family made the difficult yet life saving decision for Addi to undergo a full right leg amputation in order to rid her tiny body from her cancerous tumor. At the end of March, a loud and proud ringing of the bell finally happened and Addi had clear scans and completed her chemo treatment. That moment was an huge accomplishment, however, maintenance chemo was decided on being the best course of action for little Addi moving forward. With labs never being as they should to begin her maintenance treatment, Addi recently spiked a fever and was admitted back into the hospital to find answers. That all brings us to today, with Addi in the hospital battling once again, this time with an infection in her bloodstream and awaiting results from a bone marrow biopsy. Addi is nothing short of amazing. She’s smart, happy, has the biggest smile, loudest screams and has learned to army crawl like a pro! Big brother, Brandon, is such a sweet bubby to his little sis and loves her so much! Hannah and Hunter are the kindest, most positive and upbeat humans I, personally, have ever had the privilege of knowing. They always have a smile on their face, always giving their 100% to both kids and it’s nothing short of miraculous to witness. All things considered, this family has been through a lot and will continue to face unknowns as they navigate this unexpected and ongoing roller coaster. This site is made with love and hope. Love for the Luedeke family and hope for Addi and her journey as well as hope in that any and all kindness from our community helps to make this family’s roller coaster of life a little less scary of a ride.
