A memorial service will be held on October 19, 2024 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the JB Jenkins Worship Center at 1 Kettering Dr., Upper Marlboro, MD 20774. ___________________________________________________ In Loving Memory of Vita Wicks We are disheartened to announce the passing of our mother, Vita Wicks. A loving mother of 2, a doting grandmother of 3, an additional mother figure to a son-in-law, a sister and listening ear to many cousins, friends and colleagues. Anyone who has ever come in contact with Vita has been warmly affected by her relaxing countenance, deep wisdom, cheeky humor and willingness to share a burden. It was well known that she had been fighting through a handful of ailments over the past decade- with grace and resilience. Unfortunately, the past few years, she had to fight some of her toughest battles. Vita suffered a mini heart attack in April which led her to having to undergo heart surgery. What we believed would be a couple months' worth of rehab, lead to a trying 5 months ending in her heavenly transition on October 1st, 2024 at 9:37pm. She was surrounded by her immediate family in her last moments. Her love for her family was her greatest motivation through her hardships. Vita Wicks' legacy is one of love, community, familial devotion, and counsel. As we remember the beautiful moments shared with her, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that brought light to those she encountered. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in the memories we hold dear. In this difficult time, we appreciate your thoughts and deepest condolences.
