It's been a difficult year for the Katy-based Girtman family. This summer, Kelly's mother Kathy, succumbed after a years long battle against cancer, leaving Kelly's family and her two children devastated. With that loss still fresh, their world was rocked yet again when, a few months ago, Kelly - who has never smoked - was diagnosed with lung cancer. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of tests, procedures, medication and surgery to remove her lower lobe. Her recovery is steady, but slower than originally anticipated. Kelly's husband Brent, who works nights, is struggling to be there for both his wife and his kids, while paying off the medical bills incurred by this horrendous disease. He had to take unpaid FMLA to take care of her and the kids, and it has taken a toll on their finances. Love for Kelly was created to help support Kelly and her family in her fight against cancer. Kelly is, and has always been a fighter, and she continues to break all expectations with her recovery journey. This page is a way to offer Kelly, Brent, Millie and Sam a little support and a lot of love in practical ways. Nothing is expected but everything is appreciated! Please remember, that when speaking to any of the Girtman's about this, it is imperative that their little ones remain as protected from what is happening to Kelly as possible. Having lost their Nana to cancer very recently, we do not want that word used around them, in regards to what Kelly is going through.
