Story
So many of you have kindly offered to bring a meal and asked for recipes, my heart is full to bursting 💗 I've made a drive full of recipes that you can use or be inspired by, please note during the first 2 weeks post-partum foods are very simple! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12L85tpppcEdDFuO6CeZE_Lw1phG7gdCd?usp=sharing We are an ahimsa, vegan household, and follow a sattvic diet, free of onion and garlic. Please feel welcome to use any of the recipes that I've selected, OR your own favorite grounding and nourishing soups and warming foods, as long as you omit; meat, fish, eggs, dairy (including butter, ghee etc.) mushrooms, onion and garlic. Nutritious soup and crusty bread is enough, sides, chutneys, sweets are a bonus ✨ We are so appreciative of your consideration.
Special Notes
(Sign-up is below, here are some details about the Sacred Window if you have time/interest 💗) We are so excited to welcome our little one into the world, and are striving to follow Ayurvedic ideas around post-partum care. There are four pillars of postpartum care that Ayurveda deems essential for the healing of mama, ease-filled transition of baby, and well-rounded integration of such a profound life change. . The Principles of postpartum REST as per Ayurveda— • new mamas need 42 days of Rest after the birth of their babe to heal, integrate and BECOME. It is best to not leave the house for this window of time, going only as far as the back yard. • baby should be close to mama at all times, ideally with skin-to-skin connection. • the environment should be warm, cozy, predictable, low lit, low stimulation, no drafts, and pleasing to be in. Invite as much BEAUTY as possible. • sleep when the baby sleeps :) • Mama is encouraged to stay off her feet as much as possible – other people need to be cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, doing dishes, taking out trash, running errands, grocery shopping, etc. • No violent movies or disturbing conversations • Bring life and beauty in to the home like flowers, rose water, candles, essential oils, etc Whatever is done with attention and intention has an aspect of beauty infused into it. When something is made beautiful, you can actually feel the heart that was poured in. During the Sacred Window, mama is so much more sensitive to the subtleties. This makes her postpartum time the perfect opportunity to invite more beauty, ritual, and ceremony into her life, really honoring this profound right of passage that she is in, as she will be deeply, deeply moved by it. If you are going to be cooking for her anyway, please know that the mood you cook in is being infused into the meals and that she will feel it. Cook with love. If you’ll be bringing a meal to her bedside anyway, serve it on a beautiful plate, perhaps garnished with edible flowers - and her tea in a beautiful crystal goblet or at least her favorite mug to enjoy. If you’ll be drawing a bath for her anyway, why not light candles, add rose petals, and turn on soothing music? Infuse mama’s space with as much beauty, and thus as much intentional loving action as possible. It does not necessarily take more time, simply more love - and it will go a long way in nourishing mama during this sacred window of time <3
