In December 2020, Karilyn and Jesse Pawelk found out their family of five was going to become a family of six. They were excited for this new blessing to join their loving family! As their pregnancy continued, they were heartbroken to be told their baby had severe complications and would pass away soon. However, their baby was a fighter and by the grace of God continued to fight and grow! They named their sweet baby boy Charlie Van. As Charlie grew, they learned more about his complications and his rare diagnosis, sadly a fatal condition. The Pawelk family chose to hang onto their faith in the Lord, fight for Charlie, and embrace their role as his parents, no matter how short his life here on Earth would be. Charlie Van Pawelk was born on July 31, 2021 at 4:16am. He weighed 3 pounds 6 ounces and measured 13 inches of pure perfection! Charlie was held by his parents and showed him his beautiful eyes, before he was called home and rests safely in the arms of Jesus. Jesse, Karilyn, big brothers Jackson and Leo, and big sister Winslett feel blessed to be chosen by God to be given the chance to know Charlie, love Charlie, and have used this experience to grow in faith, and a reminder to always look for the joy in life.
