Story
Hello everyone, my name is Julia, and I am a friend of Ambers and I'm hanging by her side, along with many others, as she fights for her life against breast cancer. Amber has been an outstanding community member in Arvada for a long time. Amber has not only lived here but she has found ways to encourage her community to thrive through her tenacity, love for others and her leadership. Amber is well known for the BEST Halloween house in all of the city. Not only do her and her husband spend months preparing their home, but they also host the best party at their house that thousands look forward to attending. If you don't know her by the Halloween spooktacular she hosts, you may recall a "Santa's Letter Mailbox" that gets set out at her address each year where our children can write letters to Santa AND Santa writes them all back. This is because of Amber and her love to cheer others up and bring joy to their lives. Amber and her friends spend hours reading and responding to these special letters just so that the children in our community feel the spirit of the holiday. In the last couple of years, you may have noticed the "Grinch" hanging around town during the holiday. Well, you guessed it, that's AMBER!!! She has a vibrant personality that brings light to any room she is in, costume or not. Do you remember when Santa and Mrs. Clause came to town and handed out a toy to every child who drove by with the help of other North Pole friends and the fire department? Well. THAT was Amber again. I share these stories with you because Amber is the most selfless, compassionate and loving person we have around our city. She goes above and beyond to ensure others are helped and cared for. Not only does she help others, but she also never asks for a single thing in return, EVER. Well, the universe decided that Amber needed to face the fight of her life, for her life. Amber was in Las Vegas renewing her vows with her husband and friends when she discovered a lump in her breast. A return home and a few visits to the doctor and it was confirmed, this lump was, in fact, breast cancer. Amber went from a vibrant part of our community that served others to a place where she now needs our help! Amber is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy. This treatment makes her sick, tired, weak and unable to work, although she tries. Amber's body has rejected several forms of treatment, and this has caused serious hardship on her, both mentally and physically. Not only is the treatment difficult, but it has also left her unable to day-to-day tasks that most of us take for granted like cooking meals, cleaning our home or just having energy to not sleep all day. Because of this, Amber and Bob need us to do everything we can to help them through this difficult time. Bob is now the sole provider of the home and limits their finances to support themselves with some basic things like groceries and meals. No one ever wakes up and hopes they get cancer, but so many are diagnosed every year, just like Amber. Amber is one of the most kind and deserving people in our community who could really use our help. Please join me in bringing some ease and comfort to Amber, just like she has done for so many of us over the years.
