Jumping in for Jane

Minneapolis, MN

Story

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Greenberg, 65 years old, preceded in death by her father Dr. Albert Greenberg and mother Betty Greenberg, both of Minneapolis. Survived by sons, Shea (Morgan), Noah (Allison), and Will Danaher; their father Richard Danaher; sisters Sally (Liz) and Connie (Tim); brother Matthew (Greggy) Greenberg; partner Jeffry Jeanetta-Wark; and nieces/nephews Jessica, Michael, Leah and Joseph. Jane died peacefully with family on December 18, 2023, in Minneapolis after a long and stubbornly fought battle with metastatic breast cancer. Jane was a unique and unforgettable presence, full of fun and joy to all who met her, a beam of light and love, with a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, who doted on her three sons. She loved the outdoors, hiking many of the state parks and canoeing the waters of Minnesota's scenic rivers and lakes with her devoted sidekick Suzann. She could identify any tree or plant in the woods and tended her garden with joy, skill and hard work. She loved concerts, the Guthrie Theater, and never missed an exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Walker Art Center. She was a coach and mentor to many in softball, soccer, cross country skiing, and in life. Jane Greenberg was born and raised in Minneapolis, attended Southwest High School and received a Bachelor of Science and Master's degree from the University of Minnesota in Science Education. Jane served as a licensed school counselor in the Minneapolis public schools, and Science Educator at the Bell Museum of Natural History, preparing science and nature kits for schoolchildren. She retired as Program Coordinator in the Minneapolis Community Education Department. As her health declined, Jane was surrounded by many dear friends. Jane's family would like to thank her lifelong friends Gentry, Tom, Cindy, Suzann, and Kristen for their devotion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Breast Cancer Charity, the Univ of MN Women's Athletic Department, or the Minnesota's Future Forest Fund. A Celebration of Life will be held in March 2024. Reach out to family members for more information.
