Hello everyone, this is Luke. This page was started to help organize things for those who would like to help out our family during a difficult time. Here is the story of what is going on. Around the beginning of September, Nadia noticed some swelling in her armpit. When the swelling didn't go away, she scheduled a doctor's appointment. Nadia was given a mammogram and there were areas of concern so a biopsy was performed. On the following day, Sep 30th, Nadia received the phone call that informed her that she had cancer in her breast and lymph nodes. This was heartbreaking and also shocking news since Nadia is only 33. We have spent the time since the diagnosis visiting doctors and figuring out the next steps. Surgery should be scheduled in the next couple weeks to remove the cancerous areas. After she has recovered from surgery, it sounds like she will undergo around 5 months of chemotherapy followed by a month of radiation. The doctors are saying that because of her young age and good health they are going to use aggressive treatment options. We have four children that seem to be taking the news well although I don't think they fully understand the changes that are coming. Heck, either do I. Nadia is a very important part of our family and we love her so much. Although this has been tough news to process, God has already shown up in a lot of cool ways and we are excited to see what He is going to do through this. He can work ALL things together for good!
