Hello everyone!! My name is Shanel owner of Nelly's Cocina and I'm also Gigi's daughter. Gigi is Riley's daycare provider. As some of you may have heard by now, we received devastating news this week when Riley was unexpectedly diagnosed with standard leukemia B cell ALL. Riley was admitted to Rainbows in the early morning hours on Tuesday, and her diagnosis was confirmed later that day after a bone marrow biopsy. She had her mediport implanted Thursday and immediately began chemotherapy. Her prognosis is good, and her spirits are high. The goal is to be cancer-free by the end of the month, but she'll need two years of treatment to ensure she stays that way. Our focus is on surrounding her with prayers and love and doing everything we can to maintain some sense of normalcy for her as we tackle one day at a time.
