Hey guys! My name is Nicole Kelly and Brenda Sampson is my aunt. This is something never in a million years I imagined I would be writing. This last year has been a roller coaster of emotions for her and all of our family. Brenda has the personality to light up a room as soon as she walks in it. She is always very positive and so full of life! About a year ago my Aunt Brenda was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer. It is an ALK gene mutation lung cancer that spreads very fast and it was at stage 4 from the point she was diagnosed. Brenda has gone under many treatments but I will spare some of the details as she wanted to keep some of this private. Last week she had a procedure done that has left her on a ventilator. Every day her mother, my mother, and her kids have been at the hospital along with other close friends and family. Brenda’s mother, my grandmother is in her 80s and is an active member of the church. She has already lost her husband and a daughter so this is weighing very heavy on her. Brenda also has 3 children and a grandson who will be lost if they lose her. As of right now Brenda is still continuing to fight! That being said after spending the long days at the hospital and continuing to work when they can, planning meals for everyone and going grocery shopping is the last thing on everybody’s list. I’m doing this with hopes to get help from the local community and friends and family of the Sampson’s to get a meal train going for everyone doing what they can to be there with Brenda.
