I’m am a single parent of a 17 year old daughter. For the past 2 years we have had to rely on government benefits due to the fact that I had spinal surgeries in 2022 and 2024 and was unable to work. When I had finally healed at the beginning of January, I immediately received a job working at the AT&T call center. I was ecstatic. I could finally provide for my family properly, as it is very hard to live off of $900 a month for 2 people. About 2 days later, I got the call that I had breast cancer. My plans went down the drain, and I felt defeated. Now my daughter and I must continue living off benefits until I recover from my double mastectomy and reconstruction.
