Love for Karyn

Citrus Heights, CA

Story

On behalf of The Rubick Family and in honor of my friend, Karyn Rubick. We lost an amazing Wife, Mother, Daughter, Auntie, Sister and Friend on September 6, 2024. Her death came suddenly, unexpectedly, and tragically with complications from pneumonia that led to the discovery of cancer that had taken over her body. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Mark, and loving daughters Mikayla and Jessika when she was called home. For those of us lucky enough to know Karyn, we remember the sweetness of her soul and the generosity of her spirit. She was incredibly smart and witty with an infectious laugh and the softest heart. Karyn was never one to say no to someone needing help. She often sacrificed so others could have and worked hard to see other people succeed. She lived for her family, making sure her husband was taken care of when he was in and out of the hospital and her children always had what they needed. Often found plugging away at some kind of project or side hustle, she worked incredibly hard to ensure her two daughters would be set up for success in sports and academics. A strong advocate for community service (especially Shriner’s Hospital, which held a special place in her heart), she was always giving back in some way. Karyn was extremely talented in “finding a way” during the hard times. She always found a way to make something work. Her family is in a position to need their community now more than ever, as she was the main breadwinner with two college-aged daughters. She is leaving behind Mikayla (21 years old) who is just gaining her footing in college far away from home (in NY) and Jessika (17 years old) who is just beginning what should be the highlight of her high school experience in her senior year. If you knew Karyn, you would know she would never ask for this help. If you have ever known someone like Karyn, who carried the weight of the world on their shoulders, we ask that you take a moment to contribute to keeping her family safe and fed during the most difficult time any family can experience. The BEST way we can support this family at this time is with a monetary contribution. There are links on this page that say "Donate via Paypal" and "Donate via Venmo" that will link directly to Mark Rubick's accounts. You can also purchase various gift cards that are all linked on the page as well. Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to support!
