Hello, my name is Ray Smith, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my daughter, Brittany, who is courageously battling Stage 4 metastatic cancer. Brittany was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, just one day after celebrating her 27th birthday. Despite the cancer’s resistance to chemotherapy, we were hopeful after surgery and follow-up treatments appeared to bring it under control. Sadly, the cancer has returned—and it has returned aggressively. It has now spread to multiple areas of her body, including her skull, liver, chest wall, lymph nodes, ovaries, and bone marrow. Her doctors have given us a difficult prognosis: if treatment is ineffective, Brittany may have as little as 6 to 12 months to live. If her current regimen of chemotherapy and hormone therapy is successful, she could have 4 to 6 years. But this time, there is no cure. Brittany is a devoted single mother to two beautiful children, ages 9 and 10. She has already stopped working and is in the process of applying for disability benefits, but at the moment, she has no source of income. We are raising funds to help cover her essential living expenses—such as rent, car payments, utilities, groceries, and medical-related costs—as well as to create lasting, joyful memories with her children while she still can. One of our immediate hopes is to take Brittany and her kids on a beach vacation to give them a break from the stress and sorrow, and simply allow them to enjoy precious time together. We also hope to plan a few shorter trips to help them stay emotionally uplifted during this incredibly hard journey.
