My name is Jennifer Garcia, and I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in September 2024 at the age of 36. It all happened so quickly. I had my total thyroidectomy in October 2024 with an overnight stay in the hospital. I went home with a drain that was later removed, which was such a relief. Now that my thyroid is removed, I’m dealing with hormone imbalances and further procedures. There was a chance / risk of having vocal cord surgery which we gave it more time & turns out we don’t need it! I started my low iodine diet the day after Thanksgiving. Two weeks later, I got RAI treatment followed by the two nights stay in hospital with isolation: Im a small business owner, mom and wife. A lot of people have reached out to offer help, support, or just to do something kind for me, so I decided to create this page to keep up w my story.
