Love for Robyn Souza

LITTLE COMPTON, RI

Story

Dearest Friends, We appreciate the offers to help Robyn. She isn't one to ask for help, but she is always quick to help others. It is time for Robyn to listen to her body and take it easy so that she may heal. Robyn is braving a battle with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy in March and will follow up with radiation. I was able to spend a couple of weeks helping out, but I had to return home. I am hoping to line up help during her weeks of radiation. She will begin radiation on April 20 and end on May 18th, she will have treatment Mon-Fri. We all know that Rick is a good cook, but he likes to eat dinner very very late. To aid in Robyn's healing, we would like her to have dinner early so that she is able to go to be early and get the rest her body needs. If you choose to make meals for Robyn, they will most likely be just for her, Rick will eat on his own later. It will be nice for Robyn to have any leftovers for lunches or dinners. Robyn would love help with meal prep for the week so that it is easy for her to make dinners during the week. She plans on doing meal prep on Sundays, so if you've been fully vaccinated and want to spend a little one on one time with her chopping and prepping I'm know she will appreciate the help, I'm sure you could even sneak in time for a game with her. If you don't have time to make a meal but still want to help out, she is also looking forward to ordering meals from a meal service called Sunbasket. A gift card, in any denomination, will help towards that. We would also appreciate some support with caring for their animals. Wrangler needs a good deal of brushing and the bunny's cages need tending. I will post updates here but, you are always welcome to check in with me for an update and Robyn is up for receiving texts. If you sign up for Give In Kind, you will be able to see the most recent updates that I post. My heart is filled with gratitude for all of you, thank you for helping to care for my beautiful, sweet, mother-in-law. With love, Mary [email protected] (828) 301-3592 PS We will update the calendar as needed. We don't know how she will respond to radiation, she may not need any help or she may need more than we think.

Special Notes

Robyn loves her friends and loves to visit but, she really needs to rest. She may be up for a brief visit or play a game, but please know that she won't inform you that she needs to wrap up the visit and she may overdue it. If you take a moment to say "hi" please do so and then instruct her to get back to resting and recovering. Please feel free to make one of your favorite dishes or something you think Robyn will like, but if you are anything like me, some ideas are super helpful. Please coordinate a drop off time by calling Robyn 401-709-5218 Some ideas: - Tacos and quesadillas - Healthy meals - Roasted Vegetable Kale salad from Groundswell - Tuna melt sandwich from Partners (no onion, no tomato, on multigrain or gluten free) - She loves salads - She loves meals with mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and spinach Dislikes: - Tomatoes - Goat Cheese - Raw onions - Chick peas - Artichokes Robyn is trying to avoid gluten, but isn't super strict about it. *** Sunbasket is a great way to support Robyn and she is excited about using this service.
