As many of you know, an officer with the Maricopa Police Department was injured in an officer-involved shooting this week. Thankfully, he has now been released from the hospital, and, while his recovery may take several months, we are confident that he will fully recover and be able to return to full duty. Many of you have been incredibly kind with offers to help him and his family during this challenging time. While a home-cooked meal sounds wonderful to them, with young children who are picky eaters, there may be a better way to assist them. After conferring with this officer and his wife, we have found an ideal program to meet their needs. There is an online site called "Give-In-Kind" (www.giveinkind.com), where you can purchase an electronic gift card that will be sent directly to them. For your and their convenience, an account has already been established to complete this transaction and for them to be notified. On that site, they have requested gift cards to their local Fry's Grocery store, as well as Walmart. This will allow them to select appropriate foods to meet their dietary needs and also provide them the option to have food delivered directly to their home.
