We Love Alan So We're Doing Stuff For Him

Davis, CA

Story

Our dear Sifu Alan (so nicknamed because he earned a black belt in karate on his 50th birthday) is in need of some support. He has lived quite successfully with Parkinson's since 2016—for four years he and Lyra traveled to San Jose weekly to help with their grandkids Aurora and Wyatt—and unfortunately this summer has been tough. On Sept. 22, he was admitted to the hospital, where he tested positive for COVID. He's currently receiving care here, but the tricky thing is that COVID exacerbates Parkinson's symptoms, so he will be in need of additional support when he returns home. Lyra has done a herculean job of taking care of Alan and managing their household. We know a lot of people love Team HJ and would like to help. If you're interested in offering support, please check the options below.

Special Notes

The best ways to support Team HJ during this time are: + bringing Lyra and Alan a meal + if you live far away or cannot come in person, they would also accept gift cards for Trader Joe's or Safeway + VOTING IN THE NOV ELECTION
