Advocate Illinois Masonic Emergency Department Staff

Chicago, IL

Story

Our local Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Emergency Department staff are working tirelessly to keep us all safe while we are staying home to keep them safe. Let’s give back and help fuel them with meals at this critical time. This is also a chance to support our local restaurants and delivery drivers. STAY HOME AND HEALTHY, thus no personal deliveries or home-cooked meals, please. GUIDELINES FOR FOOD DONATIONS – PLEASE REVIEW ALL: -Food must be individually packaged. **Buffet style or sharing donations cannot be accepted. Please NO PIZZA (unless it's individual slices), NO LARGE SUB SANDWICHES, NO FAMILY PORTION SIZES OR CONTAINERS OF COOKIES/SNACKS.** -Food must be donated from a restaurant/caterer/food company that is monitored by local health inspectors and has passed a health inspection in the last 12 months. -NO HOME COOKED MEALS -Preference is for food that is cold. Keeping food warm is tricky for units. -Please consider donating both meat and vegetarian options. -Beverages must be in single-serve packages (Sorry, no bulk coffee). -All flatware needs to be individually wrapped -All condiments need to be in portion control packets. -Please no bulk donations of snacks, our health care workers need lunch and dinner donations only -Please know as safety measures change in response to the evolving COVID19 situation these guidelines are subject to change. HOW TO MAKE A MEAL DONATION: SELECT DATE/TIME: by clicking “claim” to commit to sponsoring a meal. Each day there are two meal delivery times - 12:00pm or *11:00pm. * We know this delivery time is challenging, but our 3rd shift workers have the least access to food during their shift and we are very grateful if you can help us include them. If you don’t have a favorite local restaurant that can deliver at this time, but you want to claim an 11 pm donation delivery please email [email protected] **Please understand as the situation continues to evolve hospitals will be regularly updating their policies, delivery instructions, and time slots. If you claim a slot in the future PLEASE MAKE SURE to check back just before delivery for updated instructions! CREATE AN ACCOUNT: You will be prompted to create an account when you select the date/time you wish to claim. Please make sure you follow all steps and receive a confirmation email. If the account is not complete your date/time will not be claimed. SELECT YOUR QUANTITY: Donations need to feed 30-50 individuals. PLACE THE ORDER: You pick any local restaurant of your choice within delivery distance to place your order and utilize either their delivery service or Grub Hub/Uber Eats/Door Dash. NO PERSONAL DELIVERIES. NO GIFT CARDS. CONFIRM THE DETAILS: In your claimed spot, please specify where the delivery will be from and a brief description of what is ordered and the quantity – this is very helpful for the hospital, so they know what to expect. PROVIDE THE CORRECT DELIVERY INFORMATION: Work with the restaurant and delivery person to provide them with specific instructions on where to deliver the food. Deliveries made directly to the Main Entrance of the hospital (836 W. Wellington Ave., Chicago, IL 60657) Deliveries must be made at the selected date and time. The delivery driver can park with flashers on just past the Main Entrance off to the side and out of the way. Upon arrival, the driver must call 773-296-1339 unless otherwise instructed. CHECK ON GOOD DEED DISCOUNTS: Please note when calling to place your order to mention that you are donating your meal as we have found many restaurants are providing some type of discount for your good deed! We understand that during this uncertain time this is a substantial financial ask so we hope that people create small groups to help spread the cost. ARE YOU LOOKING FOR RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS? WE HAVE SPOKEN WITH A NUMBER OF RESTAURANTS LOCAL TO THE HOSPITAL WHO ARE COMMITTED TO DELIVERY BASED ON OUR SPECIFICATIONS. REACH OUT TO [email protected] FOR A LIST OF RESTAURANTS.
