Challenge Charter School Fundraiser

Far Rockaway, NY

Story

The primary role of the Parents' Association within the School community is to promote a sense of community among the parents of our schools, to provide a strong communication link between the parent body and the school (faculty and administration), to provide the school with support in the classroom and with assistance in administrative tasks and school activities, and to provide enhancements to existing programs within the school. A parent teacher organization (PTO) gives parents and teachers the opportunity to work together to supplement and enrich the educational experience. PTAs focus on what students need to be successful in their learning, including nutrition, health, school safety, physical fitness and general well-being. PTA works with schools to ensure that children succeed. The Parent Association works with the principal, staff and the board of management to build effective partnership of home and school. Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that children achieve higher levels when parents and teachers work together. We strive to be inclusive, while fulfilling its mission, the Parents' Association should advance, through parent involvement, the stated mission and core values of Challenge Charter School.
