Hello everyone, For a quick intro, I am a queer Puerto Rican artist and activist pursuing education in International Human Rights Law with an emphasis on intersectional identities while addressing human rights abuses in the form of transdisciplinary, multicultural art expressions. Since I arrived over 1 year and 5 months ago, I have found a whole onslaught of new challenges such as legal status issues, in particular, impacting my ability to find work in Spain leaving me to resort to remote work. This is why I am seeking your help. A few months back I was fortunate enough to get a loan to last in hopes I would land a job, but the job market is bleak and have had zero luck and loan has expired. This has created a tough situation with my housing and have fallen into financial hardship and am currently unable to pay rent. I am undergoing a legal process with my landlord who is frankly illegally attempting to push me out of my apartment sooner than what I am legally alloted under my circumstances. This whole thing has been quite uncomfortable and triggering to my mental health to say the least. Luckily, I have gained the support of a housing union that is well know throughout Europe and assuring no eviction until I can leave on my terms. In order for me to do that, I need your urgent support so I can afford to find a temporary/transition space to simply get myself out of this discomfort and have the energy to take all the action to have stability and gain momentum in my project ideas and create more artwork! Outside of this, I want to continue to create art and hopfully engage with individuals and orgs that support mental health research based evidence particularly in the queer black and brown communities facing unprecedented systemic violence. I am happy to meet over a video call for more understanding and various ways to either buy my work or commission me an idea and we can work something out. I don't want to push anyone, but I am trying to leave this place sooner so I can have some peace of mind and leave this behind me.
