Story
Hello, Last Thursday, my husband, Josue, was attacked by my mentally ill brother, who stabbed him multiple times. We are doing our best to cope, but it's been overwhelming. We have four children, three of whom have special needs (they are autistic), and my husband was their primary caregiver while I work full-time. He also handled most of the cooking (he loved it), and we relied on him for transportation, as I do not drive. With his injuries, he’s unable to help with these responsibilities for at least four weeks, which is especially hard because two of our children are still very young and require a lot of care. Unfortunately, this has also deeply affected our children—especially our two girls, who witnessed the attack (all 4 of them did actually). They’re afraid and confused, and it’s heartbreaking to see them struggle with this trauma. My two-year-old keeps repeating what she saw, and it’s been really hard for all of us to process. I'm a private person, and this has been difficult to share, but I need to ask for help. I'm hoping for support with vegan meals during this time, as I’m struggling to manage everything. Our situation is further complicated by the fact that we don’t have many people to turn to. Both my husband and I grew up in a cult-like religious environment, which has isolated us from most of our extended family. My husband’s immediate family is in Mexico, and we’ve lost contact with many others. Right now, my parents are the only ones who can help in person, but even they are limited in how much they can do. I’ve attached some documents to explain the situation, but I wish to protect my husband's privacy during this difficult time. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any assistance, whether in the form of meals or advice, would mean the world to us. With gratitude, Ashley
