FULL STORY: On Thursday, March 7th, Nate Weiss was in a horrific motorcycle accident as a result of a car making a left turn in front of him. The crash left Nate with extensive injuries including two shattered wrists, a femur that was broken in three places, two broken bones in his neck, and multiple deep wounds that may need skin grafting. On Friday, March 8, Nate spent 11 hours in surgery where they did a partial reconstruction of his wrists, put a titanium rod in his leg to connect and stabilize the three breaks in his femur, and cleaned out, irrigated, and sutured all of his external wounds. Nate's two vertebrae that are broken in his neck will need to have surgery, where they will be fusing those vertebrae. At this point, the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12. Beyond that he is still looking at two wrist surgeries, unknown dates of those at this time. After those surgeries, they are hoping to be able to move him to a regular room instead of ICU. Doctors anticipate a lengthy recovery and rehab period of at least 4-6 months.THANKFULLY Nate was wearing all of his safety gear: a helmet, a riding jacket, gloves, and riding boots which surely saved his life. The trauma team and police officers all said that it's a miracle that Nate wasn't killed as a result of this crash. The Weiss family is so grateful for the outpouring of love and support shown by their friends and family members. It is because of your kindness and generosity that we know we will be able to get through this.
