Story
I had a total replacement January 2023. It’s been a rocky road since then. My knee started swelling since spring right after replacement. Fast forward fall I knew I needed Physical Therapy. I sat on it for awhile and had insurance issue but finally got started. Physical therapist saw how swollen it was and knew I had to be seen. Went in to be seen and they ordered a bone scan. The bone scan showed my device was loose. He sent me to physical Theraphy and I started experiencing pain. This whole time my knee was hot. A MRI was ordered. I come back from my MRI there is fluid on my knee. They get an ultra sound machine to try and drain all the fluid. It’s a fail. It keeps going into the muscle but they did get enough to test. Find out a week later my knee is infected and I get to have 2 surgeries. The first one to remove the device and put in a temporary and antibiotics. I will see an infectious disease specialist while waiting to be cleared to have my second surgery another total knee replacement. I do not have complete use of my leg know because of all the swelling. I hope it does not cause me any issues with the new replacement recovery.
Special Notes
I will be non weight bearing the first 4 weeks. I plan on mainly using a walker at home.
