Finally some attention

Kansas City, MO

Story

Hello, compatriots! This site will help coordinate care and support for us while I recover from my hardware update. Whether you're signing up for meals, drop-ins, donating a house cleaning, or just wanting to keep updated – Thank you, thank you, thank you! THE RUNDOWN - We are prepping smoothies, breakfast burritos, and lots of meals for lunches and dinner, but we will need help around the house and with some meals for the first 4-6 weeks. * I’m taking a month off KC Can, and two months off Mission. I either have to be standing or laying down for the first three weeks. (No bending at the waist to sit up, but I can prop my head up.) I can't drive for ~six weeks, especially as I'll be encumbered with a catheter and various tubes. * Kara will be working part-time, exclusively from home. NEEDS * Sign-ups for home visits/help are flexible re: time of day and length! Please coordinate with Kara closer to your date(s) – 619.694.9643. We live in the historic NE and I will give you our address not on a public website :) but we live right near Los Altos Jalisco taco shop if you want a nearby landmark to plan for. - Pre-prepared meals (or other) that can be easily made in a pot or the oven - Help around the house (i.e. supplemental cleaning, laundry) - Relieving Kara so she can have time for herself, take Bagel to the park, etc. - Keeping me company (i.e. handing me burritos, playing would you rather, telling me tales of the outside world, giving me suppositories...I'm just kiddin', that was a test!) - Cash for a house cleaner (i.e. we could hire somebody full time just to vacuum and I'm aiming to have someone come every other week for Dec. + Jan.) ---- You can stop reading here, or! ---- Here is an overview of what surgery entails: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/phalloplasty-for-gender-affirmation Here is an informative and approachable summary of recovery (yes, out of Utah!): https://healthcare.utah.edu/transgender-health/gender-affirmation-surgery/phalloplasty/recovery TIMELINE Thursday, December 4th: D-Day (wink) October 27: Pre-surgical consultation w/ urologist (We love Dr. B) November 3: Second pre-op appt. with Dr. Farmer to go over plans for the final time. Soup is dark-sided – I am allergic to shrimp If you want to pick up/order delivery, favorite restaurants are: - Billie's Grocery - Ruby Jean's - Friends Sushi - Prime Sushi on Main - Baramee Thai - Vietnam Cafe - Baba's Pantry
