Food Train to Support Amanda and Chad Powell

Monroe, NC

Story

Everyone that knows my brother, Chad Thomas Powell, knows that he is a hardworking and selfless father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He’d do anything for anyone and throughout the years he’s proven that. He also doesn’t like to ask for help. He works hard to provide and support his family. Last year my sister in law, Amanda, was diagnosed with a rare hereditary genetic disorder (DNMT1). It’s also referred to the “unknown disease” because many doctors have never even heard of it. As of now there is no cure or treatment for it as it is so rare. Unfortunately she lost her mother to it at a young age and watched several other loved ones suffer from it as well. We are praying and believing for a miracle. Although unfamiliar with the disease, the doctors are trying to help her as new symptoms arise. Last week, Amanda was admitted to the hospital with unexpainable broken fragments in her foot accompanied by infection causing her foot to swell and hurt very badly. Unfortunately due to the severity of the disease and the fact that she doesn’t heal easily because of it, surgery was out of the question as well as bone marrow testing to specify the type of infection. So, doctors are treating her with iv infection medication. She is now home, but the treatments will continue at home for quite some time. She has a very long road ahead of her. The medication is going to cost money daily and unfortunately the insurance won’t cover it all because of the circumstances. My Sister in law is the best big sister anyone could ask for. She was handpicked by God to be a part of our family and we can’t imagine life without her in it. She’s a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend. She brings laughter and joy and love. She has always been there for me and it’s my turn to return the favor. This page is solely for the many people who have reached out wanting to help with food. Amanda can’t be on her foot very long and therefore it’s challenging for her to cook for her family. Chad works full time to cover the bills and it’s a lot for him to have to come home, care for her, help Jaxon with homework, do housework, cook dinner, and all the other many things that keep their family going, let alone have any time to pursue his musical career dream. So we are trying to help with food, at least for a little while. There is also a link to Amanda’s GoFundMe account here if you’d like to donate. Or money can be sent directly via Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, etc. just reach out to me personally about that as we don’t want to put our info out there publicly. Thank you for reading. Thank you for praying. Thank you for donating. I know it means the world to our entire family. God has truly blessed us with an army of supporters!!
