Story
After 20 years of Kidney Disease, 4 years in Renal Failure, 3 years on the transplant waitlist, and 18 months on home periodontal dialysis, Michael was matched with a deceased donor kidney at the University of Cincinnati on Tuesday, September 17th. After a successful surgery, we returned home to Fishers on Friday, September 20th. We will be traveling back and forth to the clinic in Cincinnati frequently in the coming months, as Michael continues to recover. For the first month, we will be traveling Mondays and Fridays. As long as recovery continues we’ll reduce to weekly visits, then biweekly, and finally monthly visits. The help, support, and encouragement from our family and friends had been tremendous so far, and we hope this is a way to organize those who have offered to help.
Special Notes
Michael has some food restrictions post-surgery now that he’s taking anti rejection medication. No lunch meat, no soft cheese or sushi.
