Story

My name is Meg Erber and I’m posting this here today for my brother, Seth Doabler and his beautiful daughter Sophia. On Tuesday, January 22nd, approximately 7:30 am, my 12 yr old niece was crossing the crosswalk in front of her school when she was struck by a driver in a van. We were fortunate enough to have a good Samaritan, who was waiting with her son for the school to open, witness the event and stayed with Sophia until help arrived. Sophia was then transported by ambulance to the Christiana Trauma Center in Newark, DE where she was given a CT to determine the extent of her injuries. At that point, they felt that an immediate transfer to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, as their trauma center was more equipped to handle the severity of her injuries. We appreciate everyone’s concern and support and how our privacy has been respected, and ask that this respect, concern and support be continued. My brother Seth is the sole provider for his two daughters (Sophia and Olivia), and works nights and while Sophia is in this current state at the PICU, she must have a parent or caregiver in the room at all times, so consent can be given for emergencies. I have been there to help as much as possible, but he also doesn’t want to leave her side. Several people have reached out in regards for ways to help to donate. With all of the above said, we have finally had chance to clear our heads and make an attempt at a plan. While we do not know the extent of her medical bills as we do not know how long we will be here yet, we do realize it will be a strain on him not working so he can be with his daughter. If you can help, its appreciated, if all you can offer is prayers, we will gladly accept them with open arms.
