Story
After years of discomfort and bouts of extreme pain, and many long months of confusing doctor appointments and a whole lot of waiting, Suzie is finally getting the surgery she needs to repair her torn rotator cuff, shredded bicep muscles, and carpel tunnel in her right arm. This is the first of two surgeries (she will have a similar surgery on her left arm once she has mostly recovered from this surgery). She will have no use of her right (dominant) arm for several weeks as it heals from the surgeon's repairs. The primary need is for for support with meals, as she will not be able to cook, and while Jim makes a mean grilled cheese, they will both need nourishment following this surgery. The request is for a friend to bring by a meal every other day (mid-week) that they can either eat, or reheat for dinner and ideally to have some leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day. Perhaps they will want you to join them for dinner, perhaps they will need to rest or have a quiet dinner just the two of them. Please reach out as Suzie will be home by herself for much of this recovery period. It might take her a while to respond given her use of only one hand, so also plan accordingly. Suzie might also like company or to go on outings after the first few weeks - please don't be shy about reaching out to her. We are looking for some support through mid November with meals and day-time company or visits. There might be an occasional need for a ride to pick up medication or run errands once Jim heads back to work - please offer this to Suzie if you are able to support in this way.
Special Notes
Suzie is a diabetic, so home cooked meals are best (unless she has asked you for takeout from a particular place!). Protein rich, vegetables, whole grains. Refined carbs and added sugars are to be avoided.
